Bac Ninh promotes investment cooperation with Japan’s AeonMall
BAC NINH - A delegation from the northern province of Bac Ninh, led by Party Central Committee member and provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai, visited and worked with Japan’s AeonMall on April 29 as part of an ongoing working trip to Japan.
The delegation were received by Kenji Ohno, President and Chief Executive Officer of AeonMall Japan; Daisuke Isobe, Executive Officer and Board Member of AeonMall Japan, Head of Overseas Business Investment and General Director of AeonMall Vietnam, along with company executives. Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan also attended the meeting.

Speaking at the event, Kenji Ohno said Bac Ninh province’s recent granting of an investment registration certificate for the AeonMall commercial center project marked an important milestone, opening up long-term cooperation opportunities between the two sides.
The project will be developed in Tan Tien ward on an area of around 7.7 hectares, with total investment estimated at more than 3.9 trillion VND (about 148 million USD).

Once completed, the project is expected to become a modern commercial center serving shopping and entertainment demand while contributing to the development of the local trade and service sector.
The provincial Party Chief Nguyen Hong Thai said Bac Ninh holds a strategic position in the Hanoi Capital Region and the northern key economic zone, with synchronized transport infrastructure and convenient connectivity to major economic centers.

He noted that the province is investing in the construction of Gia Binh International Airport to international standards, which is expected to create additional momentum for investment attraction.
He praised AeonMall’s interest, cooperative spirit and preparations for the commercial center project in Bac Ninh, while also acknowledging the coordination efforts of Newland Investment JSC in carrying out related procedures.

The large-scale project is aligned with Bac Ninh’s urban, trade and service development orientation and is expected to contribute to economic restructuring toward services and industry once operational.

He urged the investor to continue coordinating closely with provincial authorities to complete procedures and prepare conditions for implementation to ensure progress and quality, with a target to break ground in May 2026 and complete the project in 2027.
Bac Ninh authorities will continue creating favorable conditions for investors and directing relevant agencies and localities to promptly resolve difficulties during project implementation, he added.

The meeting further concretized cooperation orientations between Bac Ninh province and AeonMall while opening opportunities to attract more large-scale Japanese trade and service projects to the province, contributing to socio-economic development and strengthening Vietnam-Japan ties.
