BAC NINH - On the morning of October 15, a delegation from the Ministry of Health led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Lien Huong held a working session with the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh Province to discuss public health and disease prevention during the post-flood season. The delegation included representatives from the Vietnam Medical Association, the Health Trade Union, the Bright Tomorrow Fund, and the National K Hospital.

According to a report from the provincial People’s Committee, despite prior forecasts and preparedness, widespread heavy rainfall had caused severe flooding in many areas, resulting in significant damage.

An overview of the meeting.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Lien Huong extended her deepest sympathy to the Party Committee, authorities, and residents of Bac Ninh for the extensive losses caused by Typhoon No. 11.

To ensure effective disease prevention and environmental sanitation following the floods, she urged the province to direct departments and localities to closely monitor, detect, and respond swiftly to any outbreak risks.

Local authorities were instructed to inspect and test the quality of clean water in flood-hit areas, guide residents on safe water treatment methods, and promptly collect and dispose of animal carcasses and waste.

Flooded health facilities should be quickly restored to resume emergency and medical services without interruption, and hospitals must be ready to admit and treat patients in case of new disease outbreaks.

The Deputy Minister also stressed the need to raise public awareness of disease prevention through communication and education campaigns, following the Ministry of Health’s recommendations.

She highlighted the importance of personal hygiene, food safety, and cross-sector cooperation to address environmental and water-related issues effectively.
