Bac Ninh targets 12.5-13% economic growth in 2026
BAC NINH – Authorities in northern province of Bac Ninh have pledged to achieve economic growth of 12.5-13% in 2026, despite mounting global and domestic challenges, provincial leaders said at the government's regular June meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee on June 3.

It was attended by Nguyen Hong Thai, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with Lam Thi Huong Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Council.
Held at the provincial People's Committee headquarters, the meeting was connected online with officials in all 99 communes and wards across the province.
A report presented at the meeting showed that Bac Ninh's socio-economic performance remained resilient in the first half of 2026, laying the foundation for meeting its annual targets.
The province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expanded 10.56%, ranking sixth nationwide and placing Bac Ninh among only nine localities to record double-digit growth. GRDP reached approximately 273.4 trillion VND (about 10.4 billion USD).
Industry remained the main growth driver, expanding 19.51%, while industrial production was valued at around 1.6 quadrillion VND.
Total social investment rose 21.21% from a year earlier during the first six months. Bac Ninh attracted investment worth more than 9.86 billion USD in equivalent capital, ranking fourth nationwide in foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction.
Urban development and housing projects also continued to advance, including 102 social housing projects with about 117,000 apartments, 47 commercial housing projects, and 182 urban and residential area developments.
The province also continued to invest in culture, education, healthcare and social welfare, while accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation. National defence, security and social order remained stable.
Provincial authorities are also preparing documents and proposals following the Politburo's approval in principle of plans to establish Bac Ninh as a centrally governed city.
Addressing the meeting, the provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai praised provincial agencies and local authorities for their proactive efforts in implementing socio-economic development tasks, while calling for stronger measures to overcome existing bottlenecks.
He urged authorities to further promote investment attraction, particularly by shortening administrative procedures for secondary projects in industrial parks, and to strengthen the role of business associations in expanding production and creating higher value-added output.

He also called for faster implementation of key infrastructure projects, especially land clearance for the planned Gia Binh International Airport, airport connector roads, Ring Road No. 4 and other strategic development projects.
Responding to the directives, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Hoang Son reaffirmed the provincial government's determination to achieve its 2026 growth target.
The provincial People's Committee will work directly with individual departments and agencies to review implementation progress, identify remaining obstacles and take timely corrective measures.
The province will reward agencies and individuals that deliver strong performance while taking strict action against those whose negligence or delays hinder the implementation of its development goals.
