Bac Ninh targets completion of 20,000 social housing units in 2026

Updated: 11:20, 02/01/2026

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh province aims to complete 20,000 social housing units in 2026 as part of the national programme to develop at least 1 million social homes for low-income earners and industrial park workers in the 2021–2030 period, according to the provincial Department of Construction.

Under the scheme approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 338 dated April 3, 2023, the province had completed 15,929 social housing units by the end of 2025, meeting the target assigned by the central government.

The social housing project in Nenh ward is completed.

Several projects have recorded high numbers of completed apartments, including the Cat Tuong Smart City social housing project in Yen Trung and Tam Da communes; social housing projects for workers in the New Urban Area of Nen ward; the social housing complex for workers in Nen ward; Social Housing Project No. 2 in Zones 5 and 9 of the southern urban area of Bac Giang ward; and the social housing project serving the industrial park in Thuan Thanh ward.

Provincial authorities said the fulfilment of social housing targets reflects Bac Ninh’s strong political commitment to implementing social welfare policies effectively, providing stable and sustainable living conditions for workers and low-income residents.

The programme is expected to help residents settle down and make a living, while contributing to improvements in the local investment climate.

A representative of the Department of Construction said the Prime Minister has assigned Bac Ninh province to build 17,873 social housing units in 2026.

Seeking to create a breakthrough in social housing development, the provincial government has registered with the Ministry of Construction a higher target of 20,000 units for the year.

To achieve this goal, Bac Ninh will continue to translate government guidelines into concrete plans and action programmes tailored to local conditions, with clear targets set for each project. The province is currently focusing on the implementation of 96 social housing projects.

At the same time, local authorities are reviewing and supplementing social housing plans, prioritising the allocation of cleared land in favourable locations near industrial parks and urban areas, while ensuring connectivity with transport, healthcare and education infrastructure to support long-term living for workers and low-income households.

The province is also encouraging enterprises to invest through incentives related to land, taxation and credit. Local administrations are accelerating site clearance efforts to hand over cleared land to investors, enabling the early construction, completion and operation of social housing projects.
