Working in the Centre for Social Affairs under the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, officials and staff of the Office of Consultancy and Support regularly receive information about disadvantaged children. “Warm Winter – Loving Spring”
Under the slogan of “Warm Winter – Loving Spring” in response to the 2017 winter and 2018 spring voluntary campaigns, youth federations at different levels have simultaneously launched a series of humanitarian activities, including presenting about 4,000 gifts to orphans, disabled and poor children. The gifts were bicycles, blankets, and warm clothes, among others. The provincial Association for Children’s Rights Protection also mobilized 30 million VND (1,300 USD) worth of scholarships for disadvantaged students from the An Huy real estate company’s local branch.
Holding the An Huy scholarship worth 2.4 million VND (106 USD) per school year in her hands, Giap Thi Ngan, a resident in Tan Trung commune, Tan Yen district said: “As the national high school graduation exam approaches, I will try my best to study and live up my family’s expectations.” Ngan’s father has suffered from heart disease for years and the high cost of treatment left her family in poor condition. Despite difficulties, the 12th grader at the Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students has managed to study well.
Hoping to connect humanitarian hearts, a number of individuals have set up charity groups and clubs, namely Exciter, Purple Rose, Hearts Connection, and Thien Tam, among others.
Tran Tuan Hiep, leader of the Shared Affection club (Hiep Hoa district) said the club together with the district’s youth union are organizing a charity music show with the participation of Duong Ngoc Anh – winner of the Voice Kids Vietnam 2017.
The show aims at raising donations for a local fund to help youths realize their dreams and other funds which support disadvantaged students in the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
Teachers and students at the Nguyen Binh Khiem education system in Viet Yen and businessmen in Bich Dong have persuaded people to donate warm clothes, textbooks, and medicines for poor students in Phieng Pan commune, Mai Son district, Son La province. The gifts will be delivered to their beneficiaries ahead of the 2018 Lunar New Year holiday.
As a new spring is coming, organizations and individuals have their own ways to do charity but the common point among them is a wish to share difficulties with poor children.
