Zhou Mi, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, a think-tank under China’s Ministry of Commerce, told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s reporter that he had just returned from a working trip to Vietnam last month.
He highlighted rapid infrastructure buildout in urban and commercial areas, as well as brisk trade activities that underscore the economy’s underlying vigour.
Zhou attributed Vietnam’s progress to complementary interests between the two nations, adding that bilateral economic and trade ties rest on a firm footing.
Both countries have pursued reform and policies of openness with a similar development mindset, integration orientations, and adherence to international rules.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam would maintain effective development principles conducive to steady cooperation among nations.
The Vietnam-China partnership is stable, enduring, and inseparable, he said, pointing out that China’s growing cooperation potential with both Vietnam and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will provide a long-term, stable foundation for collaboration ranging from economy and trade to people-to-people exchanges, and social development.
Sharing the same view, Wang Wen, Executive Dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, said he had visited Vietnam twice this year and came away impressed by its growth and economic momentum.
He called Vietnam one of the most promising emerging markets, noting that it has adeptly capitalised on globalisation over the past two decades. Looking ahead, he said the country is ideally positioned to expand ties with China while riding broader regional integration and development waves in Southeast Asia.
From a regional economic standpoint, Vietnam is certainly one of the countries with the brightest prospects, he affirmed.
