One thousand works by children with cancer or suffering serious diseases will inspire frontline workers battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Launched on Aug. 8, the "Vi mot Viet Nam tat thang" (For a victorious Vietnam) contest is co-organized by "The Sun of Hope" (formerly The Sun) program, Hope Foundation, Foreign Trade University, and iOne.net.

Gia Bao beat blood cancer after a period of treatment.

At a national scale, the drawing and writing contest is for children of four to 16, who have had or are being treated for cancer or other serious diseases. Entries may reflect a pure, honest view of life or wishes and hopes for a brighter future.

The spirit of optimism and love of life conveyed by participants in their works will be a meaningful gift for the community, especially doctors and nurses on the Covid frontline. It also encourages Vietnamese to unite in the Covid-19 fight.

Participants are free to express themselves in various formats including drawing, poetry, stories, comedy, letters or prose, with no limitation on the number of works and forms.

"Everyone has a childhood, but not every child is lucky enough to have the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality. Let's listen to, accompany and empathize with them," an organizer said.

"Vi mot Viet Nam tat thang" (For a victorious Vietnam) is sponsored by VTV and VnExpress.

Submissions will open from Aug. 8 to Sept. 10.

The contest offers a first prize of VND40,000,000 (including VND5,000,000 in cash) and many other prizes, with total value of over VND100 million.
