The Vietnamese Embassy in Buenos Aires held a gathering on January 12 for the local Vietnamese community to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), the most important festival in a year for Vietnamese.
Ambassador Dang Xuan Dung took the occasion to update the overseas Vietnamese on the great achievements that Vietnam had recorded in the past year, including a 11-year high GDP growth of 7.08 percent.

He highlighted that Vietnam and Argentina marked the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2018 with many activities. Bilateral trade almost reached 3 billion USD last year, the highest in trade between Argentina and a Southeast Asian country.
Ambassador Dung reiterated the consistent policy of Vietnam towards overseas Vietnamese and urged the expatriates to contribute to the development of the homeland.
The gathering brought warm moments for participants with traditional Tet dishes and songs about the motherland.
Leading officials visit workers ahead of Tet
Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong on January 6 visited workers at the Ha Phong garments for the export company in the northern province of Bac Giang on the occasion of the coming traditional lunar New Year (Tet), the longest and most important annual festival in Vietnam.
At least 1.5 million Tet gift packages for underprivileged
The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) will launch a programme entitled “The Strength of Humanity” on January 13 to call for support to the underprivileged ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, according to VRCS Vice President Tran Thi Hong Anh.
Bac Giang leaders extend Tet Greetings to Chinese and Korean Embassy
(BGO) – The Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Nguyen Van Linh on January 8 paid a visit and extended New Year Greetings to the newly-accredited Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2019 with the leader of the provincial Department of Foreign Affair (DoFA) and several Chinese enterprises investing in the province in attendance.
