Exhibition space features quintessence of Bac Ninh cultural heritage

BAC NINH - The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the opening ceremony of the exhibition “The Quintessence of Bac Ninh Cultural Heritage” at Bac Ninh Library No. 2 on March 23. This is one of the key activities to celebrate the “Returning to the Heritage Land 2026” Festival.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mai Son, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and head of the Organising Committee for the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate and the “Returning to the Heritage Land 2026” Festival; along with leaders of several provincial departments and agencies.

The exhibition space “The Quintessence of Bac Ninh Cultural Heritage” at Bac Ninh Library No. 2 is divided into two areas.

The outdoor display area showcases images and documents of eight typical cultural heritages of Bac Ninh province recognised by UNESCO; national special and typical heritage sites; national treasures; and other representative intangible cultural heritages of the province.

The indoor exhibition space is divided into three areas. Area 1 displays over 400 documents and materials about the Dong Ho folk painting craft, arranged in a model of the Dong Ho Folk Painting Preservation Centre, with artisans demonstrating painting techniques and showcasing some typical products.

Area 2 features a prominent model of the Quan ho house, along with more than 300 documents, materials, project documents, conference proceedings, and research on Bac Ninh Quan ho folk music, including the dossier and UNESCO certificate recognising Bac Ninh Quan ho as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Photographs, media, and other products related to this heritage are also displayed.

Area 3 presents materials on six typical provincial heritages recognised by UNESCO and other notable heritages such as a model of the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda gate, a replica of the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda Buddhist woodblocks, documents on Bo Da and Vinh Nghiem Pagodas, as well as cultural practices including Ca tru, the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms, and Then practices of the Tay, Nung, and Thai people.

The exhibition is open to visitors until April 10, 2026.

On the same day, at Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son and other delegates attended the opening of a special exhibition showcasing Bac Ninh’s typical artifacts in 2026, organised by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

On display until April 2 are more than 500 representative artifacts originating from Vietnam across many historical periods, currently preserved at Bac Ninh Museum No. 1 and Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, and in valuable private collections of members of the Kinh Bac Antiquities Collection and Research Association.
