FPT puts semiconductor chip testing and packaging plant into trial operation in Bac Ninh
BAC NINH - FPT has begun trial operations at its semiconductor chip testing and packaging plant, operated by FPT Analysis Technologies Joint Stock Company, in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park in Bac Ninh City.
The 1,600-square-metre facility is equipped with six production lines and has a designed capacity of up to 300 million chips annually.

FPT's semiconductor plant in Bac Ninh has a designed capacity of 300 million chips annually. |
The launch marks a significant step in FPT's strategy to deepen its involvement in the semiconductor industry, while adding an important link to Vietnam's domestic semiconductor ecosystem, particularly in chip testing and packaging.
The Bac Ninh plant is equipped with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems combined with Handler devices to check chip functionality, assess operational performance and classify products as pass or fail.
The testing area is housed in a Class 10,000 cleanroom (ISO Class 7) to control dust and other environmental factors that could affect component quality.
In terms of quality management, the plant plans to apply international standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Cleanroom environmental controls under ISO 14644, electrostatic discharge protection and reliability testing procedures are also being implemented in line with the requirements of individual products.
A key aspect of the operation is the role of engineers in developing testing programmes.
Each chip type has distinct functions and technical specifications, requiring engineers to design testing scenarios, establish appropriate test conditions and evaluate results accordingly.
FPT is also researching an artificial intelligence (AI)-based platform to automate the development of testing programmes, covering data standardisation, technical requirement analysis, test configuration design and result evaluation.
In addition to functional testing, the plant conducts durability and reliability assessments by exposing chips to high temperatures, repeated temperature changes and different combinations of temperature and humidity.

During its initial phase, FPT will focus on providing functional, quality and reliability testing services to domestic and international semiconductor companies. The plant is expected to handle its first chip-testing order for a South Korean partner.
Beyond manufacturing operations, FPT plans to use the facility as a practical training environment for students.
From December 2026, the company expects to work with FPT Polytechnic College to launch a pilot programme giving students direct access to testing equipment and chip-testing procedures.
