Vietnamese acrobatic brothers Giang Quoc Co and Giang Quoc Nghiep broke their own record when the duo climbed 100 stairs of Girona church in 53 seconds while doing a head-to-head balancing act.

The event in which Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep set the 2021 world record took place at 13:00 on December 23 in Spain (7:00pm Vietnam time).

The Giang brothers performed a head-to-head balancing act climbing 100 stairs within 53 seconds, breaking their own world record.

During his first workout at Girona, Quoc Co only walked 70 steps out of the 100 steps required by Guinness World Records.

According to Quoc Nghiep, because the weather was too cold, Quoc Co had muscle spasms, and his physical strength was greatly reduced. However, the Vietnamese duo still tried their best to practice and hoped their health would return to normal to conquer a new record.

At the 2nd rehearsal, despite their best efforts, they were still 10 steps away from completing the performance. Both brothers said that there were a few time constraints and the weather had a little bit of an impact on the training session.

In December 2016, the brothers had previously set a Guinness World Record with their head-to-head balancing act by scaling 90 stairs in 52 seconds on the steps of Girona Cathedral in Spain.

They set a Guinness World Record in 2018 for 'climbing and descending ten stairs backward while blindfolded and balancing head-to-head' during a performance filmed in Italy.

Quoc Co, who was born in 1984, was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist at the age of 28. Quoc Nghiep, born in 1989, received the title of Meritorious Artist at the age of 26. Quoc Co started practicing circus at the age of 4, Quoc Nghiep began at the age of 5. The two have been professional performers from 1999 to present.

Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep first rose to global fame after finishing in the top 4 of Britain’s Got Talent in 2018.

In August 2021, it was proposed to award the two artists the title of People's Artists.
