Government allocates 140 billion VND to support flood-hit provinces

Updated: 18:35, 08/10/2025

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has decided to allocate 140 billion VND (around 5.6 million USD) from the 2025 central budget contingency fund to help four northern provinces recover from recent floods.

Under Decision No. 2221/QD-TTg, Thai Nguyen province will receive 50 billion VND, while Cao Bang, Lang Son, and Bac Ninh provinces will each be given 30 billion VND.

The competence force support the older and children to leave from the flood hit area in Hop Thinh commune of Bac Ninh province.

The funding is intended to provide emergency relief for residents and support initial post-disaster recovery efforts, following a proposal by the Ministry of Finance.

The Prime Minister instructed provincial authorities to manage the funds strictly in line with state budget regulations, ensuring transparency and accountability, and to report on their use to relevant ministries for summarisation and submission to the Government.

This latest move follows Decision No. 2171/QD-TTg issued on October 2, which provided 2.52 trillion VND (about 101 million USD) to 15 provinces affected by Typhoon Bualoi and other natural disasters earlier this year, including Tuyen Quang (200 billion VND), Cao Bang (195 billion VND), Lang Son (20 billion VND), Lao Cai (200 billion VND), Thai Nguyen (20 billion VND), Phu Tho (20 billion VND), Son La (200 billion VND), Lai Chau (24 billion VND), Dien Bien (90 billion VND), Ninh Binh (20 billion VND), Thanh Hoa (200 billion VND), Nghe An (500 billion VND), Ha Tinh (500 billion VND), Quang Tri (200 billion VND), and Hue (135 billion VND).
