Hoa Nghiem bell tower draws crowds to Tay Yen Tu spiritual site

Updated: 14:20, 03/03/2026

BAC NINH - Thousands of visitors from inside and outside the province have flocked in recent days to the Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism complex in Bac Ninh province to admire and take photos of the newly inaugurated Hoa Nghiem bell tower.

The 36-metre tower, designed in the shape of a lotus pedestal, stands at the centre of a vast lake covering more than 8,000 square metres. The structure has three levels and is supported by a system of 40 wooden columns.

From a distance, the Hoa Nghiem bell tower rises prominently above the lake and surrounding landscape.

Among them are four main pillars symbolising the four seasons, each measuring 1.5 metres in diameter and 28 metres in height. The remaining columns range from 0.9 metres to 1.2 metres in diameter and from 7 metres to 17 metres in height. The entire structure is made of ironwood and painted red, standing out prominently against the surrounding mountains and forests.

The bell tower is located in the lower pagoda area, behind the ancestral house building within the complex.

Hoa Nghiem bell tower is one of the key components in Phase 3 of the Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism project, which broke ground in May 2022.

The broader complex integrates cultural, historical and ecological elements of the western Yen Tu region, forming a distinctive tourism highlight for Bac Ninh province.

The site has become an increasingly popular destination, particularly during the early spring festival season, drawing large numbers of pilgrims and tourists.
