Luc Ngan lychee transported over spring and mountain via cable and trolley

Updated: 21:29, 25/06/2020
(BGO) – It is the creative method of a Nung man Lang Van Yen (born in 1980) in Khuon Nghieu hamlet, Ho Dap commune, Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province).

His family has more than 100 lychee trees which were grown in 1996 with yearly productivity of dozens of tonnes of fruits. However, it was really hard to care for the trees and harvest the fruits because he grew lychee on high mountain.

Lang Van Yen and the system.

Yen shared: “My wife and I used to carry each heavy pack of fertilizer and pass the spring, cleft and slope to care for the orchard. On harvest season, we must load all the fruits down the mountain which was really hard and risky. Many time we fell down and hurt while the lychees were damaged. Even we could not come to the orchard on the flood season”.

Later on, Yen knew that the custard apple growers in Chi Lang district (Lang Son province) made trolley and cable to conveniently transport the farming materials and fruits from high mountain to the lower area.

The lychees are gathered at the cable station before being load down the mountain.

He directly came to the locality to learn the method and the way to control the system. Then, he invested over 10 million VND (430 USD) excluding the cost of man power to erect the trolley and cable system with total length of more than 150m from his home over the wide spring and deep cleft to the orchard.

“This year, it is much easier to harvest the lychee by releasing the brake of the trolley when the lychee basket will automatically load down the yard. If I need to carry the fertilizer up to the mountain, I only close the breaker then the cable will upload the materials, ” Yen happily said.

Luc Ngan has nearly 30,000 ha of lychee, thousands of which are cultivated on craggy locations such as river, spring, slope hill...in Ho Dap commune. Thus, it is an effective way to build a trolley and cable system to transport the product.
