More than 5,100 blood units donated at Red Spring Festival

(BGO) – On February 13, the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation in Yen Dung district (Steering Committee), Bac Giang province launched Voluntary Blood Donation Festival. 

Transferring the message “Giving red blood – saving one life”, the festival drew the participation from 800 volunteers who were officials, public servants, staff, students and people at all strata to donate the blood.

After screening and inspecting, the Organization Board received 820 safe blood units which met the standard of the Health Ministry. These units were then delivered to Vietnam Germany Hospital to serve emergency case and patient treatment.

To ensure the Covid-19 preventive requirement, the district Steering Committee ordered the Red Cross Society in each commune and town to consult the local authority to organize Covid-19 test for participants; guide them to donate blood at fixed hour to minimize big gathering.

It was among the activities to respond to the Red Spring Festival voluntary blood donation campaign to ensure the reserve blood source during Lunar New Year holiday.

Since the launching date of January 9, the Steering Committee at all levels has held six events and received more than 5,100 blood units, surpassing 27.5 percent of the set plan. The campaign will last till March 15.
