The television series comprises 90 half-hour episodes, documenting Vietnamese history from the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the present day, and was aired during prime time from 2020-2021 on television channels across the country.

Nhan Dan also won an A prize for a five-article series on the challenges and opportunities of Covid-19, a B prize for another five-article series on the journey to determine the identities of fallen soldiers, and a C prize for an article refuting the labelling of Vietnam as a currency manipulator.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the significant contributions of journalists nationwide and congratulated those who have won the National Press Awards.

He urged press agencies to provide prompt and accurate information to the public while stepping up the fight against corruption, wastefulness, bureaucracy and other negative behaviours.

The State leader also called for more reports on outstanding examples in social work, doing business, the fight against the pandemic and the protection of social order and national security.

In his speech summarising the awards, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Thuan Huu stated that the entries had closely followed major topics of Vietnam’s political, economic, social and cultural life in 2020.

Many works were carefully written, providing in-depth looks into the areas of Party building, constructing new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, energy security, and the green economy, among others, said Thuan Huu.

The 2020 National Press Awards received more than 1,900 works from media agencies throughout the country, from which the organisers selected the best entries to present with one special prize, 9 A prizes, 25 B prizes, 45 C prizes and 32 consolation prizes.
