Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang grows from music contests

(BGO) - In 2018, Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, a student of the Faculty of vocal music, Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) received a lot of good news when she won the First runner-up title at the VNAM’s Talent and Beauty Contest and the Silver medal at the 6th Asian Arts Festival held in Singapore. The student born in 1997 at Dai Lam commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province used to be a student of Phuong Son senior high school, Luc Nam district. 

Trang was born in a family where her grandfathers shown great love for arts. When she was a child, her mother used to take her to her grandfather named Duong Khac Can, a member of mobile cinema team of the district and key person in the art movements, to look after her. In order to comfort his granddaughter, Can played guitar and taught her vocal techniques and how to sing. Thanks to the support of the whole family, this little girl showed great love for singing.

According to her mother, Trang could sing smoothly and correctly such songs as “Em mo gap Bac Ho” (Dream about Uncle Ho), “Chiec den ong sao” (The Star- lantern), “Dua com cho me di cay” (bringing meals to mother in the field) or “Duong tau qua nui” (the railway crossing the mountain). She lived in Dai Lam hamlet, Dai Giap commune, Lang Giang district, adjacent to Luc Nam district. After finishing junior high school, Trang moved to study at Phuong Son senior high school in Luc Nam district.

Some outstanding achievements of Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang include the First prize at the “Teenage melodies contest” organized by the provincial Department of Education and Training in 2015, the Second prize at the “Thuong River Singing Contest”in 2016, the First runner-up at the VNAM’s Talent and Beauty Contest and Silver Medal at the 6th Asian Art Festival in Singapore in 2018.

Although Trang actively took part in the art activities of the school and localities, she was not clearly orientated for the future career. “Lan Huong, a teacher at the provincial Center for Culture, Sport and Tourism, realized my singing ability when I attended and won the second prize at the “Thuong River singing contest” in 2016. She encouraged me to continue studying to develop my talent”, said Trang. After graduating from high school, Trang passed the entrance exam in the Faculty of Vocal music, VNAM.

After school time, this student often arranges time to take part in the art programs to practice her skills on stage and earn her living. She told, at first, her parents had to pay for her study and living. However, as she got familiar with the new environment, she has tried to study well to win the scholarship and do a part-time job to reduce burden for her family.

In May 2018, thanks to the encouragement of her friends, she attended the VNAM’s “Talent & Beauty Contest”. With her beautiful, charming smiles, ideal height (1.69 meter) and good knowledge, Trang defeated many contestants to win the First runner-up title.

Moreover, she took part in the 6th Asian Arts Festival in Singapore in June 2018. Trang shared, this is a regional playground luring a lot of talented contestants from such countries as China, Republic of Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. Before the contest, she had thought this was just an opportunity for her to learn from others. However, with her great efforts, Trang won the Silver Medal at Opera category although it was not her strength. Her achievement contributed to affirming training quality of VNAM to international friends.

Huyen Trang takes part in a humanitarian activity giving gifts to children at the National Hospital of Acupuncture, Hanoi.

With her endowed aptitudes, Trang attended many big events in the province with the role as a MC such as “One commune, one product” by the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the humanitarian music show titled “Joining hands for humanitarian activities” by the Youth Union and Thien Tam Charity Association of Luc Nam district.

Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang gained notable success in 2018. But for her, the initial success was contributed by great support and encouragement of her family and teachers. In the coming time, Trang aims to enrich her knowledge, skills and foreign languages to become a lecturer providing the musical inspiration to young people like what she has received from her relatives, teachers and friends.
