Outstanding individual for works in the protection of children’s rights honoured

A meeting was held in Hanoi on November 17 to honor outstanding individuals and organizations for their work in the protection of children’s rights.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the ceremony and awarded certificates of merit to two outstanding individuals in the protection of children's rights, namely Tran Thi Thanh Thanh, former Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights (VAPCR), and Le Thi Thu, Vice Chairwoman of the VAPCR.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the ceremony and awarded certificates of merit to two outstanding individuals in the protection of children's rights.

In addition, 12 organizations and 17 outstanding individuals in the protection of children's rights were awarded certificates of merit by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. The VAPCR also presented certificates of merit to 39 organizations and 78 outstanding individuals.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is chairman of the National Committee for Children, highly appreciated the initiative of the VAPCR in the implementation of activities and the efforts of many organizations and individuals, who have provided a lot of positive outcomes for children.

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that ministries and agencies from central to local levels, along with organizations and families, would strengthen their coordination so that both children and adults are aware of and implement the protection of children’s rights.

Nearly 400 million VND donated to “Dream on the wings” programme for Bac Giang’s poor children
(BGO) – As of August 31, the Organization Board of the third “Dream on the wings” programme for the disadvantaged children in the northern province of Bac Giang in 2018 has received 395.8 million VND (over 16,900 USD) from the kind-hearted organizations, agencies and philanthropists, including 315.8 million VND (over 13,500 USD) in cash and several gifts of bicycles, books, notebooks and bag among others.  
 
Central Highlands children with cleft lip, palate get free operations
Eighty-three children with cleft lip and palate in the Tay Nguyen Central Highlands will receive free health check-ups and surgeries as part of the Operation Smile Vietnam programme.
 
Foreign-funded projects support needy children in Thua Thien-Hue
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on August 25 launched a project to support local orphans and poor children with assistance from a US organization. 
 
1,000 bags and buoy bags presented to workers’children in new academic year
(BGO) – On the occasion of the upcoming academic year of 2018 – 2019, the Labor Confederation in the northern province of Bac Giang called for the Fund for Protection of Children’s Right (Vietnam Trade Union) to sponsor 1,000 bags and buoy bags to the local students living in difficult conditions. 
 
Creating a healthy environment for children a strategic task: PM
Caring for and creating a healthy living environment for children is a strategic task towards sustainable long-term national development, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
