Party official visits Bac Ninh, pledges stronger social welfare support

BAC NINH - Senior Vietnamese Party official Nguyen Duy Ngoc on April 28 visited the northern province of Bac Ninh to present gifts and support to policy beneficiary families, war veterans, workers and low-income laborers, while calling on the province to maintain high economic growth alongside stronger social welfare policies.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Communist Party’s Central Organization Commission, led a central delegation to the province ahead of the country’s major national commemorative events.

Provincial officials said Bac Ninh posted gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of 9.82% in the first quarter of 2026, ranking fifth nationwide. Average GRDP per capita reached 5,852 USD, about 1.16 times the national average.

The province continued to attract strong investment inflows while expanding welfare programs for war veterans, disadvantaged households and workers. Bac Ninh aims to eliminate poverty by the end of 2027.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc presents gifts to policy beneficiary families, people with meritorious services, poor households, workers and disadvantaged laborers in the five communes of Yen Phong, Tam Da, Tam Giang, Van Mon and Yen Trung.

The province is currently managing nearly 285,000 records of people with meritorious services to the revolution, including around 40,000 beneficiaries and relatives receiving monthly allowances.

Bac Ninh has also accelerated social housing development for industrial workers, with 100 projects underway or completed, expected to provide more than 116,000 apartments. About 28,300 units are scheduled for completion during 2021-2026.

During the visit, the Secretary of the Party Central Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc and the delegation presented 214 gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor households and impoverished workers. He also visited the families of a martyr’s widow and a war invalid in Yen Phong and Tam Giang communes.

The central leader urged Bac Ninh to remain at the forefront of economic development, targeting annual GRDP growth of more than 10% during 2026-2030, driven by science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

He said economic growth must translate into improved living standards and greater well-being for residents, while calling for continued support for workers and vulnerable groups across the province.

On the same day, Nguyen Thi Huong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the province’s National Assembly delegation, visited and presented gifts from Party General Secretary and State President To Lam to the Provincial Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation of People with Meritorious Services in Bac Giang ward.

Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, along with members of the provincial Party Standing Committee, also visited and presented gifts at the Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center, as well as to two severely wounded veterans in Ninh Xa ward and policy beneficiary families in Kep commune, Tu Son ward, Yen Phong commune and Yen Trung commune.
