PM Pham Minh Chinh attends ASEAN-Japan 50th anniversary commemorative summit

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi on the morning of December 15 to attend the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and have bilateral activities in Japan from December 15-18, at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

He is accompanied by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh, Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committees of Thai Binh and Hai Duong, and Deputy Ministers of National Defence, Public Security, Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, and Finance.
The delegation also includes Ambassador Nguyen Hai Bang, permanent representative of Vietnam to ASEAN and Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu.
President Vo Van Thuong’s freshly-concluded visit to Japan has reaped significant and comprehensive achievements, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son told the press.
President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse attended a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties held in Tokyo on November 28.
President Vo Van Thuong has called on the Japanese government to ease entry procedures and waive visas for Vietnamese citizens during a meeting with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
As one of Vietnam's largest investors for more than half a century, Japan has also been the Southeast Asian nation's leading Official Development Assistance lender for more than 50 years.
Vietnam and Japan have officially upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership “for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world,” the two nations’ leaders announced.
