Positioning Bac Ninh tourism brand

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh is home to many heritage sites associated with important historical and cultural events of the nation. These are precious resources in the province’s tourism development strategy. In order to achieve the target to welcome 6.5 to 7 million arrivals in 2026, the province has developed unique tourism products.

There are over 1,400 festivals, nearly 1,500 historical and cultural relics, 24 national treasures, 33 national intangible heritages and 8 UNESCO recognised heritages in the entire province. This is a giant “treasure” of heritages.

Tourists flock to Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourism complex.

Several unique genres of culture such as quan ho folk songs, craft of making Dong Ho folk paintings and the system of traditional craft villages, local customs and diversified natural landscapes have formed a solid foundation for tourism development.

According to surveys, Bac Ninh has received more positive responses from domestic and foreign visitors about the destination quality. Specially, the year 2025 marked a significant change with the presence of the “Ha Noi 5 cua o” (Hanoi 5 gates heritage) train tour departing from Hanoi to Tu Son station.

This product opened up a linkage for sustainable tourism development between Bac Ninh- Hanoi and neighbouring provinces while renewing the approach to Kinh Bac’s heritages towards intensive experiencing and connecting cultural, historical and artistic values.

Bac Ninh has more advantages after the merger. The province is home to the famous fruit orchard. Several eco-tourism models in mountainous areas have become ideal destinations for tourists.

Endowed with diversified cultural resources, rich cuisine, friendly people and high integration, Bac Ninh has converged all favourable conditions for the “non-smoke” industry to rise and gradually affirm its standing on the national and world tourism maps.

Recently, Bac Ninh has dramatically innovated communication, advertising and tourism promotion with harmonious combination between traditional methods and digital platforms to expand the reach and visibility of the local tourism brand.

In 2025, Bac Ninh received 6.3 million arrivals, up 26 percent compared to 2024 including 355 internationals, earning a total turnover of 5.5 trillion VND (208.5 million USD), an increase of 13 percent.

Dong Ho folk painting (in Thuan Thanh ward) is the essence of unique wisdom combined with refined woodblock carving craftsmanship.

There are over 1,000 accommodations, approximately 100 travel agents and 38 provincial-level tourist sites and destinations in the entire province.

In the context of international integration and fierce competition, Bac Ninh needs strategic breakthroughs for professional, modern and sustainable tourism development attached to digital and green transformation.

In coming time, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department should focus on building the provincial master plan for tourism development in the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 as well as effectively implementing resolutions and plans on tourism development in the 2025-2030 period.

Besides, it is necessary to strengthen promotion associated with cultural diplomacy, produce cultural and tourism promotional programmes to broadcast on national television channels and Vietnam Airlines network, enhance digital promotion, promote the growth of educational tours, support travel companies in market expansion and link provincial tourist destinations with inter-regional tours to build a sustainable tourism value chain.
