Promoting historical values of Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site

(BGO)- The provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism (DOCST) and municipal People’s Committee of Bac Giang city (Bac Giang MPC) jointly held a talk show themed “Historical values of the Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site” on 30 July at Xuong Giang ward. 

According to DOCST’s Director Tran Minh Ha, the Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site in former Xuong Giang Citadel (Bac Giang city) is an important place where is restoring the evidences of material culture marking the Lam Son Uprising leaded by Le Loi to end the war against Chinese Meng invader. The Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site is comprised of 12 spots with a number of artifacts marking this historic event.

According to the direction by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province, DOCST and Bac Giang MCP completed the scientific profile of the Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site to request for ranking it as a special national relic.

This talk show is aimed to grasp opinions of the scientists and researchers to clarify the historical and cultural values of the relic to complete the profile to submit the Prime Minister for ranking it as a special national relic.

Majority of the participants evaluated the profile preparation meeting the requirements. According to Professor Truong Quoc Binh, member of the National Council for Cultural Heritage, in order to complete the profile, it is necessary to focus on presenting the events taking place at the site and build a big model of Xuong Giang Citadel and the two decisive battles at this place in the year of 1427 while highlighting involvement of the people in this victory because this is a memorable monument.

Besides, it is essential to enhance management and promotion of the relic in tourism activities.

Assoc. Prof Tong Trung Tin recommended strengthening archeological surveys to find historical remains and evidences to enhance values of the relic. Besides, he advised to collect and display the artifacts at the exhibition house with precise explanations while replaying the significant battles with technology to make the relic more attractive.

In addition, the participants paid due attention to promoting and exploiting the relic after being ranked as the special national relic.

According to Assoc. Prof Pham Mai Hung, the competent agencies need to build a scheme and master plan to protect and promote values of the relic while establishing a stable management apparatus and making plan for more professional activities.

In his conclusion, Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang stressed, the competent agencies of Bac Giang province need to continue completing the profile, particularly supplementing the information on the historical and cultural meanings and values of the relic and collecting documentation to reproduce the strategic crucial fights in this site while highlighting its intangible value. Besides, he recommended the plan to manage the relic site after recognition.

Leaders of Bac Giang DOCST and MCP grasped the mentioned opinions to direct finishing the scientific profile of the Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site to submit for ranking it as a special national relic site.
