Provincial Party leader accompanies President on Switzerland, Russia visits

(BGO) - At the invitation of Swiss President Guy Parmelin and the President of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to pay official visits to Switzerland and Russia from November 25 to December 2. Duong Van Thai, member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Bac Giang provincial Party Committee and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, joined the delegation.

On November 26, a special plane carrying President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at the Geneva International Airport, Geneva city, Switzerland. Right after the official welcome ceremony in Bern city, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with President of the host country Guy Parmelin.

President Guy Parmelin warmly welcomed President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit, which takes place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. He believed that the visit would be an important milestone, contributing to promoting the Vietnam-Switzerland cooperation to a new height.

The two sides realized that over the past half-century, the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries have been thriving in many fields. In order to create a driving force for the bilateral cooperation to develop strongly in the coming time, the two sides agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges and contacts as well as those between their ministries, sectors and localities, thus deepening mutual understanding and trust and promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields.

On the same day, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and President Guy Parmelin attended the Vietnam - Switzerland Business Forum.

Addressing more than 100 businesses of the two countries, President Phuc called on Swiss businesses to invest in Vietnam and cooperate with Vietnamese peers in areas where they have strengths and Vietnam prioritises, especially banking and finance, high technology, innovation and digital transformation.

The official visit to Switzerland of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and the Secretary of Bac Giang provincial Party Committee Duong Van Thai successfully closes. The delegation is paying an official visit to Russia.

At the forum, Swiss President Guy Parmelin emphasised great potential for cooperation between the two countries, saying new cooperation frameworks are needed to encourage Swiss businesses to invest in Vietnam. It is expected that no less than 70 million SFr will be invested in economic development projects in Vietnam in the 2021-2024 period.

From November 29 to December 2, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation is paying an official visit to Russia.
