Ouk chaktrang, or Cambodian chess, is the first sports that opens for competition at SEA Games 32, hosted by Cambodia. The competitions are taking place from April 29 to May 9 with seven events.

The Vietnamese Ouk Chaktrang team comprises 11 players.

SEA Games 32 is scheduled to take place in Phnom Penh and four other localities of Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep from May 5-17. It is expected to welcome over 12,400 athletes, coaches and staff from regional sports delegations.

This year, Vietnam will compete in 30 out of total 36 sports at the games, aiming for 90-120 gold medals to enter the top three on the medal tally.

As host of SEA Games 31 in 2021, Vietnam topped the medal table with 205 golds. Thailand came second with 92 and Indonesia third with 69.

“Cambodia Pride”, the official anthem of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, has garnered 50 million online views after just 10 days of release. The song is performed by singers Preap Sovath, Khemarak Sereymun, Khem and Ton Chanseyma. Since its release on YouTube on April 10, the song has attracted over 14,000 comments of people from different countries, including Vietnam. 

Vietnam's top swimmer Huy Hoang to hold Vietnamese flag at SEA Games 32

Vietnam’s top swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang has been chosen to hold the Vietnamese national flag at the opening ceremony of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) that will take place on May 5 in Cambodia, General Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, head of Vietnam’s sports delegation to SEA Games 32 Dang Viet Ha said on April 20.

SEA Games 32: Cambodia to cover all expenses for participating nations

Cambodia will be the first host country in SEA Games history to cover all expenses from meals and transport to accommodation for participating nations in the event next month.
