Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Hong Thai appointed new Party Chief of Bac Ninh province

BAC NINH – Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defence, was appointed by the Politburo to join Bac Ninh province’s Party Committee and its Standing Board, serving as Secretary of the committee for the 2025-2030 term. He was also appointed to the Party Committee of Military Region 1.

The Politburo decisions were announced at the Congress of the Bac Ninh province’s Party Organisation for the 2025-2030 term on September 30 morning.

On the same day, the Politburo decided to appoint Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Bac Ninh provincial Party Committee, to join the Central Military Commission for the 2025-2030 term.

He will continue to preside over the Congress until all its agenda items are completed.

According to the Politburo’s decisions, the provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term consists of 71 members, and its Standing Board includes 18 members.

Nguyen Thi Huong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, was appointed as Standing Deputy Secretary for the 2025-2030 term.

The Deputy Secretaries of the provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term include Nguyen Viet Oanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Vuong Quoc Tuan, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, who has been nominated to continue serving as Chairman of the People’s Committee for the 2026-2031 term.

In his speech at the Congress, on behalf of the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat, Nguyen Duy Ngoc, member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, acknowledged, congratulated, and praised the achievements of the provincial Party Organisation, government, and people during the past term.

Emphasising the need to fully leverage the province’s favourable conditions, potential, and advantages, he urged the Congress to continue discussions and further elaborate on the three strengths and four strategic directions for the next term.

He also encouraged reviewing and refining the targets and tasks in the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, as well as relevant resolutions of the Party Central Committee and the Politburo, to ensure they are well-adapted to Bac Ninh’s local context.

In his inaugural speech, the newly appointed Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, expressed deep gratitude to the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat for their trust.

He emphasised that the provincial Party Committee is committed to thoroughly absorbing the comprehensive and profound guidance provided, completing the Congress documents, and developing specific action programmes and plans.

According to the schedule, on September 30 morning, the first Congress of the Bac Ninh provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term will continue discussions, listen to a summary report on feedback to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, and the draft documents of the provincial Party Congress, before officially closing.
