The story of two orphans Ho Ky Su and Ho Sy Nghiep, Nung ethnic children in Rang village, Cam Dan commune, Son Dong district touched many hearts. 

In early December when the facebook account Ngan Loi post the status “Their father died 3 years ago and their mother has died because of a sudden headache leaving 2 small children. Su is 9 years old and Nghiep is only 6. They are living with their paralyzed grandmother who is unable to work. They face very hard condition and need helps”.

The donors give money to support two orphans in Cam Dan commune, Son Dong district.

Then, the status has been shared widely to call for joint helps. More than 100 million VND (4,300 USD) has been mobilized for a very short time and given directly to these two children.

Many clubs, organizations and individuals donated these children. Particularly, Bac Ninh Young Life Club donated 30 million VND (1,300 USD), Tam Thien (kind heart) group in Son Dong district mobilized for a savings-book of 11 million VND (474 USD), the “Porridge Pot of Love” group and Banh chay My Dinh (My Dinh glutinous rice dumpling) group donated 10 million VND (430 USD) and Kind Heart Family group (Bac Ninh province) donated 14.3 million VND (617 USD). Teacher Hoang Van Phong of Cam Dan primary school advised the school leaders to raise fund to give many gifts to the two students.

Similarly, Nong Hoai An (born in 2007), a student of class 6A, Huu San primary and secondary school also received support thanks to social network. An’s father died of traffic accident while his mother left him.

After his grandmother died, Hoai An has lived with his uncle. From the information shared on the social network, a number of donors in Son Dong district, Bac Giang city and Hanoi city sent gifts and encouragement to him.

Hoang Anh Quan (born in 2013), a student of class 1A1, Duong Huu primary school, Son Dong district faced life-threatening condition due to bee stings. Thanks to support from the community, his family got more money to cure him.

According to Nguyen Thi Nga, leader of Son Dong Kind Heart Group, the group members have called for support through social networks to help many needy people. For each case, the group came to every family and locality to seek for information, take photos, post and share on social networks

After each mobilization, the group made the list of donation and publicize on the social network to follow up; thereby, Son Dong Kind Heart Group has gained trust and helped many needy cases.

According to Nguyen Thi Chien, Chairwoman of the Red Cross Society of Son Dong district, the voluntary activities in the district have become strong thanks to advantages of the social networks to connect the kind-hearted even overseas people.

In order to do real charity, each person needs to be a responsible citizen, understanding and kind-hearted enough to connect and spread positive activities on social networks.
