The statement was made by President Vo Van Thuong, while attending a ceremony to begin the new academic year 2023 – 2024, at the school on September 5.

Over many past years, 100% of the grade 12 students from the school have passed high school graduation. The rate of students admitted to university has been always above 85%.

The school was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Government twice. In 2013, the school was honoured with the third-class Labour Order and was awarded the second-class Labour Order in 2018.

President Vo Van Thuong extended his best wishes to the delegates, teachers and students of Gia Lai’s Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, on the occasion of the new academic year.

The President asked the Party Committees, authorities, Vietnam Fatherland Front committees and agencies, at all levels in Gia Lai Province, to deeply grasp the guidelines of the Party and the policies and laws of the State, on education training and the innovation of the boarding high schools and illiteracy eradication for ethnic minority people.

He also stressed that the establishment of boarding schools for ethnic minorities in particular and attaching importance to education for ethnic minority children, in general, is a policy that reflects the thinking and strategic vision of the Party and State towards escaping poverty and promoting the socio-economic development of mountainous and remote areas.

President Thuong asked teachers of the Gia Lai Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities to attach great importance to innovating teaching methods while linking learning with practice.

Students must also consider the school as their home and always be grateful to the teachers, staff, and workers in the school, he added.

The State President urged the Party committees, authorities, organisations and people of Gia Lai Province, to continue paying practical attention and investment in the education sector in the province, in general and the boarding schools for ethnic minorities in particular.

On the occasion, President Vo Van Thuong presented gifts to teachers and students who have gained outstanding achievements.
