Imbued with cultural identities

Danh Mountain in Lien Chung and Viet Lap communes is close to Thuong River with the highest peak of about 117m above the sea level. This place is surrounded by spectacular natural landscapes with old pine forests and fresh air.

The path to Danh Mountain is made with 345 sloping stairs. Mui Voi (Elephant Nose) well located at the mountain root is crystal with 2m depth. Danh temple is stipulated on the top of the mountain worshipping Cao Son and Quy Minh Gods. After being embellished and repaired for times, the relic site still preserves its ancient and unique features.

Danh temple festival takes place on 19th and 20th Lunar January annually with the God Procession Ritual from Vuong communal house to Danh temple attracting a large number of local people and visitors from other localities. At the festival, visitors can enjoy pipe singing, an intangible heritage and local specialties like Danh Mountain ginseng, a precious ginseng conferred to the King in Nguyen dynasty, Nem nuong Lien Chung (grilled fermented pork roll), soya source and onion. The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province decided to recognize Danh Mountain an eco- spiritual tourist site.

Tan Yen district is also home to other beautiful landscapes such as Dot Mountain in Phuc Son commune, Da Ong Lake in Lan Gioi commune in line with a network of historical and cultural relics with 431 relic sites of different kinds including 96 ranked relics, 15 relics included in the national special relic cluster relating Yen The Uprising, 5 national relics and many relics of ancient and unique architecture with high artistic value.

There are about 190 annual village and communal festivals in the district with some typical ones like Ha temple festival in Tan Trung commune, Vong communal house temple in Song Van commune and Trung temple festival in Ngoc Chau commune.

The relic of Phuc Son pagoda has been improved.

In exploitation of the local advantages, the people’s committee of Tan Yen district has directed and supported the communes, towns and enterprises to build signature and OCOP products to serve tourists. Particularly, Tan Yen district established 2 models in 2023 including building Danh Mountain eco-spiritual tourist site to meet OCOP standards and developing OCOP products associated with Danh Mountain eco-spiritual tourist site and other tourist sites along Thuong River.

Improving the relics to attract tourists

Implementing the Scheme on development of Danh Mountain eco-spiritual tourist site, the district people’s committee has refurbished and improved the relics and traffic system at the locality and neighbouring areas, recovered special cultural features such as pipe singing, vi singing and Bao Loc Son festival with spring folk games and expanded the space of Danh temple festival.

The Memorial Site of Uncle Ho’s 6 Teachings to the Public Security Forces in Nha Nam town has become a “back to the origin” tourist attraction. The district has established some routes of eco-spiritual, historical and cultural tourism linked with the districts of Luc Nam, Yen Dung and Viet Yen and the provincial Museum.

Since 2021, the district has repaired and embellished 21 relics at the total fund of nearly 300 billion VND (12.2 million USD) from the state budget and mobilized from the society. 

The agencies, units, communes and towns in the district have digitalized the ranked relics and promoted communication and advertising on the mass media and social networks. The number of arrivals to the district increases year on year especially in festival season. Particularly, the district attracted nearly 56,000 visitors in 2023.

According to Vice Chairman of the district people’s committee Ngo Quoc Hung, the district has paid more attention to communication and advertising of the district’s image. The district is targeted for tourism development imbued with typical cultural features of the region.

Besides, it has invested and mobilized resources from the society to repair and embellish the relics, improve traffic infrastructure, recover and maintain traditional cultural and artistic activities and folk games in the festivals.

With the existing tourism advantages in line with unique cultural features and development orientation of the district, Tan Yen will strive to become an attractive destination for many visitors.
