Tang Tien – A dynamic craft village in Bac Giang province

(BGO) – About 1,400 out of nearly 2,000 households in Tang Tien commune, Viet Yen district, northern Bac Giang province, are relying on making bamboo and rattan handicrafts.

With their industriousness, creativeness and activeness, the villagers have brought bamboo and rattan weaving products to international markets. The craft contributes up to 60 percent of the local people’s income.
Tang Tien commune’s value of industrial production, small industry and craft in the first seven months of 2016 reached 130 billion VND (5.72 million USD), up 5 percent from the same period last year.
Nearly 4,000 local labourers in the village work in the craft, each earning over 4.5 million VND per month.
In 2014, Tang Tien is the second commune in Viet Yen district completed its target on new-style rural area building.
Not only developing its craft, the commune is also promoting trade and services to ensure its sustainable development.
