The 8th "Booth for Workers" Programme kicks off in Bac Giang

BAC GIANG - The 8th "Booth for Workers" programme was launched on the evening of October 4, at Than Nhan Trung Square, Bich Dong Ward, Viet Yen Township (Bac Giang province) by the joint collaboration of Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, the Steering Committee of the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" (Campaign) and Viet Yen Township People's Committee.

Launched by the Politburo in 2009, the Campaign has achieved positive results, helping raise awareness and create good changes in consumption and shopping among the people as well as promote socio-economic development.

Many local products become the pride of Bac Giang people, truly conquering domestic and foreign consumers such as Luc Ngan lychee, Yen The hill chicken, Ban Ven tea, Chu noodles, Thai Son golden sticky rice...

Up to now, Bac Giang province has 334 products participating in the One Commune One Product programme (OCOP), ranking among the top provinces in terms of the number of OCOP products. The rate of Vietnamese goods displayed, circulated and consumed in trade centers and supermarkets in the province hit over 95%.

Implementing the key policies and tasks of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the Welfare Programme for union members, since 2017, the Provincial Federation of Labor has signed cooperation agreements with 52 partners inside and outside the province to implement discount sales for union members and workers.

As a result, more than 300,000 union members and workers can buy goods and services at preferential prices, with a total benefit value of nearly 20 billion VND (861,900 USD).

The "Booth for Workers" programme, lasting for 3 days from October 4-6, is an activity to concretize this content, associated with effective implementation of the Campaign, heling share difficulties, encourage union members and laborers.

At the event, workers had the opportunity to shop at preferential prices (10% discount or more) at 70 booths of 35 enterprises with thousands of essential products and services such as: Garments, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and electronics among others.

Besides, there were 23 units and enterprises sponsoring the "Zero VND" booth with many gifts for workers, totally worth over 300 million VND.

Laborers visit, buy discounted products and receive gifts at the programme's booths.

In addition to discount sales activities, union members and workers can also participate in many exciting and healthy cultural and sports activities.

At the opening ceremony, the Provincial Federation of Labor commended 95 typical enterprises for workers and 5 partners who have well implemented the cooperation agreement in the welfare programme for union members.

Also, the Federation of Labor allocated funds from the "Union Cozy House" Fund and the union's financial resources to support the renovation of houses for 9 union members' families whose houses were damaged by storm No. 3 (total value of 355 million VND) and presented gifts to 140 impoverished workers (each worth 700,000 VND).
