Top legislator meets with female deputies in Vinh Phuc

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with female deputies, ambassadors, and heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on March 2 on the occasion of the upcoming International Women’s Day (March 8).

She said Vietnamese women today continue playing an important role in the cause of national reform and development.

Earlier this week, Vietnam was honored to host the meetings of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly (APF)’s Women’s Parliamentary Network and the APF Education, Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee, Ngan said.

Through the events, many issues related to women were shared and discussed such as gender equality and women’s rights, the application of digital technology in women’s start-ups, and the trafficking of women and children, she added.

Vietnam will continue to be a responsible participant of the women’s parliamentary group in the forums of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), she said.

The top legislator asked the Vietnamese women’s parliamentary group to boost a diverse range of activities with new action programmes to increase the role of Vietnamese women as well as female legislators in the country’s sustainable development and international integration.

Over the past time, Vietnam has received the support of the international community which is represented by female ambassadors and heads of international organizations in the Southeast Asian country, Chairwoman Ngan said.

Through them, Vietnam has got valuable experience sharing from countries as well as financial and technical support to promote the international integration and realize the targets set in the national agenda 2030 on sustainable development towards inclusive growth, she added.

Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Raisa Vardanyan said Vietnamese women have been playing a crucial role in the national development.

Vietnam has gained remarkable achievements in ensuring gender equality with women involving in promoting economic growth and working in the private economic sector, she said.

The country has also implemented initiatives to help increase women’s business capacity and leadership, she added.

Support women in business startup
(BGO) – Implementing the member support programme in 2019, the Bac Giang provincial Women’s Association has disbursed the budget of “Supporting women in business startup and development”.

The White Ribbon Breakfast 2018 and safe orange bus journey were launched in Ho Chi Minh City on November 28 in response to the Action Month for Gender Equality and prevention of gender-based violence and the 16-day global campaign on ending violence against women and girls.
