Two Bac Ninh students win silver medals at European Physics Olympiad 2026
BAC NINH - Two students from Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted have won silver medals at the 2026 European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO), contributing to Vietnam’s perfect record of all contestants receiving awards at the competition.
The Olympiad, held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from June 12-16, concluded with Vietnam’s five-member team securing one gold medal and four silver medals, according to Nguyen Thi Thuy, an observer with the Vietnamese delegation and a teacher at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted.

The two silver medalists from Bac Ninh were Nguyen Thanh Trung and Hoang Van Thai Son, both 12th-grade students at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted.
Vietnam’s gold medal was awarded to Nguyen Nhat Anh from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in Da Nang.

The other silver medals went to Nguyen Vu Manh Khang of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in Gia Lai Province and Luong Duc Gia Bao of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted in Phu Tho Province.
In 2025, Bac Ninh also had two students competing at EuPhO. Nguyen Tran Hieu won a gold medal, while Ha Tuan Kiet received an honorable mention from the organizers.
The province is expected to have three more students representing Vietnam at international Olympiads in July 2026.

Than Duc Chinh and Phung Quang Hung, from Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, will compete in Biology, while Ta Ngoc Minh from Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted will take part in the International Physics Olympiad.
Earlier this year, Minh won a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), held in Busan, South Korea, from May 17 to May 25.
