A design by Minh Hanh will be presented to Swiss diplomats and the public at the United Nations Office in Geneva today. |
Designer Hanh earned the honour of being the Vietnamese representative to introduce the country’s style to the world by presenting the brocade collection at the United Nations building. The collection will be presented to Swiss diplomats and the public on September 14, at the Palace of Nations, the main conference hall at the UN office.
The event is part of the activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of Vietnam joining the UN. Geneva is home to the second largest headquarters of UN in the world, after New York and it hosts more than 10,000 international conferences every year.
On this occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Duong Chi Dung also hosted a solemn meeting at the Geneva UN Office.
With her latest collection inspired by the natural beauty of Vietnam’s mountain ranges, designer Hanh said she wishes to promote a modern image of contemporary Vietnam.
The showcase space will be full of bamboo, with the installation created by Tran Trong Linh, a Vietnamese painter living and teaching in Switzerland, who is famous for his unique spatial arrangements.
Additionally, artist Pho An My will perform new compositions inspired by the Mong ethnic group’s traditional folk songs. The show will feature the participation of 25 models from France, Switzerland and Vietnam.
