Shortly before the break, goalkeeper Kim Thanh made a fantastic save after Jill Roord’s initial shot, but there was nothing she could do about Danielle van de Donk’s follow up as the Dutch went into halftime with five goal in front.

It was the Netherlands who continued to dominate the second half, with Esmee Brugts and Jill Roord being the stars of the show.

Esmee Brugts completed her double three minutes before the hour mark with a stunning curling effort from outside the box, while Jill Roord got her second goal in the 83rd minute to seal a convincing 7-0 win for Andries Jonker’s side.

With the resounding victory, the Netherlands booked their place in the next round as Group E winners. They got seven points following two wins and one draw, two above the United States, who advanced as the group runners-up following their goalless tie with Portugal on the same day.

Vietnam left the tournament with three consecutive defeats and without scoring a single goal.
