Students from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture receive the AEON scholarships at a ceremony in Hanoi on December 6.

The project, designed to “Support the Dreams of Asian Students”, was started in 2006 in the hope that recipients will play an active role in the future, connecting their home countries with Japan in their respective specialist fields. In addition to year-round financial support, the project offers opportunities for various curricula and volunteer activities aimed at scholarship students in Japan and provides support for students aiming to develop into global talents.

In Vietnam, the AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarship has been awarded to a total of 1,140 university students, including students from universities in Hanoi since 2012 and those in HCM City since 2011.

This year in Hanoi, students from the Vietnam National University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Foreign Trade University and the Vietnam National University of Agriculture were honoured to receive the scholarships.

At the Scholarship Certificate Granting Ceremony, students awarded scholarships gave speeches on their personal dreams and goals.

“The scholarship is not only a practical aid in terms of finance but also a meaningful stimulus for us to keep going on our career paths to realise our dreams,” said Dinh Ngoc Mai, a junior student at Foreign Trade University, majoring in International Business Economics.

“2022 is also the year celebrating the 49th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relationship. It serves as both the most tangible example of the two countries' long-standing friendship and collaboration as well as a reflection of the AEON Group's strong corporate social responsibility in Vietnam,” Mai said.

The AEON 1% Club Foundation was established in 1989 in Japan. It engages in projects with the three main themes of “Sound Development of the Next Generation, Promotion of Friendship with Foreign Countries and Sustainable Development of Regional Communities”.

Since its establishment, the AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarship has supported roughly 8,000 students from 38 universities and colleges across Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar.
