Winners of Vietnam Tourism Awards 2019 honoured

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on July 15 to honour the winners of the Vietnam Tourism Awards, as part of activities marking the 59th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese tourism sector (July 9, 1960 – 2019).

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is also Head of the State Steering Committee on Tourism, among others.

The winners included: the top ten inbound tour providers, top ten outbound tour providers, top ten domestic travel enterprises, top ten five-star hotels, top ten four-star hotels, the airline transporting the most tourists, the airline with the highest passenger growth, top five automobile carriers, top five best restaurants and top five entertainment areas.

In addition, the top three tourist destinations, top ten golf courses, top five tourism investors, top five training establishments of human resources in tourism, and top five traditional units were honoured at the ceremony.

Initiated in 1999, the annual awards aims to select and honour outstanding organisations, enterprises and individuals for their contributions to the development of Vietnamese tourism sector.

Over the past 20 years, the awards have contributed to improving the quality of tourism services, building the national tourism brand, and developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector.

The year 2018 was considered as a successful year in Vietnamese tourism, with outstanding results. The country welcomed 15.5 million international visitors and served 80 million domestic tourists, earning VND637 trillion last year.

In the first six month of this year, the number of international arrivals to Vietnam reached nearly 8.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%.
