3 young people in Bac Giang win Luong Dinh Cua Award
They are Nguyen Thi Mai (born in 1986) in Van Thach village, Hoang Van commune, Hiep Hoa district, Nong Thi Hue (born in 1992), Secretary of the Youth Union of Trai Nhi village, Hong Ky commune, Yen The district and Nguyen Thi Thoi (born in 1988) in Bao Dai commune, Luc Nam district.

Nguyen Thi Mai is a dynamic woman. She linked the households in the locality to make use of the waste and ineffective cultivable land for nursery. Thanks to application of information technology to connect supply and demand, Mai’s seedlings have been smoothly consumed in the market of Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Lai Chau, Son La and Thanh Hoa.
Mai gains annual revenue of about 3.5 billion VND (154,242 USD) from this model with a profit about 1.5 billion VND (65,675 USD) after deducting the expenses. The model creates job for 15 permanent labourers and 50 seasonal workers with average salaries ranging from 6 to 10 million VND (262 USD to 438 USD) per month.

Mai was awarded certificate of merit by Bac Giang Peasants’ Association for her outstanding achievements in the movement “Farmers’ emulation in good production and business, solidarity to help each other make wealth and achieve sustainable poverty reduction” in 2016-2021 period.
Nong Thi Hue, Director of Thien Phu Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative is known as a go-getter. In 2017, she decided to quit her job at a big company manufacturing electronic components to go back her hometown for startup. In order to enhance the product value, she studied and produced the product “Diep Nhat celastrus hindsii tea”. The product has been recognized 3-star OCOP title and about 2 tonnes of dried celastrus hindsii are consumed each year.
In addition, the Cooperative produces traditional rice wine supplying about 25,000 litres of wine per year.
The Cooperative gains an annual revenue of nearly 1.5 billion VND (65,675 USD) with a profit of 600 million VND (26,270 USD) from these products and creates job for 15 to 20 local labourers at average salaries from 4.5 to 6 million VND (197 to 262 USD) per month. Hue was awarded certificate of merit by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for her outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in 2021.

With a determination to supply high quality farm produce to consumers, in 2020 Nguyen Thi Thoi participated in establishing Bac Giang Youth Farming Cooperative as a director. The Cooperative grows different species of safe veggies in membrane houses on an area of about 9,000 square metres with melon and cucumber as the key products (harvesting about 15 tonnes each crop). Besides, she cooperated to open a retail chain supplying clean farm products in Bac Giang and some other localities. In line with traditional trading method, she makes use of social networks to bring the products closer to consumers.
Thoi’s clean agricultural production and trade model yields an annual profit of some 300 million VND (13,135 USD) and create job for 10 local labourers at salaries from 6 to 8 million VND (262 to 350 USD) per month.
Luong Dinh Cua Award is given to recognize and honor young people in rural areas with outstanding achievements in production, business, development of rural industries, application of modern science technologies, environmental protection and building new- style rural areas; thereby drawing experience and expanding the models and good examples contributing to boosting the patriotic emulation movement of young people in rural areas.
