Bac Giang businesses overcome difficulties, stabilize production, business
BAC GIANG -Businesses affected by typhoon Yagi in Bac Giang province are focusing on fix the consequences to quickly recover and stabilize their production and business.

Nguyen Thi Nhung, Director of the cooperative, said: “The typhoon, the strongest to hit Vietnam in decades, caused very strong winds and heavy rain, making many of the cooperative's crops flooded, broken, or uprooted. The warehouse storing rice seeds and fertilizers had its roof blown off. Immediately after the storm, the cooperative hired workers to repair the roof of the warehouse, and mobilized machinery and personnel to clean up the fields to replant a new crop of vegetables. It mainly grows short-term vegetables for quick harvest, to plant the winter potato crop in time.”
Long Duong Development Construction Co., Ltd, a construction firm located in Huong Son village, Hoa Son commune, Hiep Hoa district, is also severely hit by the typhoon.
The storm destructed hundreds of trees, swept away equipment, and damaged the lighting system, cameras, and aquaculture ponds at its eco-tourism area. Similarly, Dong Dao Tourism Cooperative in Quy Son commune, Luc Ngan district is also focusing on recovering from the storm consequences.
Preliminary statistics indicate that dozens of small businesses and cooperatives in the province were economically affected by typhoon Yagi, with those in Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, Son Dong, Yen Dung and Hiep Hoa districts, and Viet Yen township being hardest hit.
According to the provincial tax department, as of September 16, the agency had received payment deadline extension requests from 882 taxpayers, with a total amount of more than 230 billion VND (9.34 million USD). |
In response to the situation, the province has directed local authorities and relevant agencies to urgently support residents and businesses in quickly restoring their production and business.
Currently, the provincial tax sector is counting businesses and cooperatives impacted by the storm to provide tax reductions. As of September 16, the tax agency had received payment deadline extension requests from 882 taxpayers, with a total amount of more than 230 billion VND (9.34 million USD).
Nguyen Thanh Luan, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam’s Bac Giang branch, stated that in light of the storm's damage, the bank has issued a document requesting local credit institutions to implement measures to support customers affected by the typhoon.
It required these institutions to promptly assess the damage to their customers and promptly apply support measures, such as rescheduling loan repayment, considering interest rate exemptions and reductions, and providing new loans to help them restore production and business activities.
The People's Committees of Hiep Hoa, Luc Ngan and Yen Dung districts, and Viet Yen township have assigned relevant units to assess the damage to organizations and businesses. They have instructed local communes, wards, and towns to mobilize forces to assist companies and cooperatives in cleaning up the environment, replanting trees, and repairing workshops to quickly stabilize production and business operations.
