Bac Giang city: Spacious and beautiful schools welcome new academic year
Nearly 100 billion VND invested in building new schools
These days, cadres, teachers and students of the Tan My Secondary School are busy to prepare for the new school year. In addition to guiding students to clean school grounds and classrooms, and practice rituals for the opening ceremony, the school management board, in coordination with the communal People's Committee, has urged the construction unit to accelerate the building of a new school.

The school is built on an area of 4,000sq.m, including two high-rise buildings with 29 classrooms, 11 rooms for subjects, and a waiting room. According to chief project officer Tran Van Bang, in order to ensure the progress, the unit mobilized 170 workers, an increase of 50 people compared to the previous months.
Currently, technicians are implementing steps to complete the work and expect to put into use the new classrooms in October, five months ahead of schedule. According to the design, the new classrooms will meet standards in terms of area as well as water, lighting, and toilet facilities.
This time, the Dinh Tri Secondary School, the Dinh Ke Primary School, the Dong Thanh 2 Primary School, and the Tan Tien Kindergarten are also rushing to complete new classrooms.
Phi Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Tan Tien communal People's Committee, said the committee has urged the construction unit to quickly complete 12 new solid classrooms with a total budget of over 14 billion VND (603,722 USD) so that they can be put into use on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the new academic year. Then classes in small venues will be moved to the central zone to meet the teaching and learning requirements.
Preparing for the 2019-2020 school year, the city People's Committee invested nearly 100 billion VND (4.3 million USD) in building 104 classrooms, up nearly 40 billion VND compared to the previous school year. Currently, the rate of solid classrooms in the city is over 99.3 percent, an increase of 8.36 percent, the highest in the province. The rate is expected to increase to 100 percent when the new classrooms are completed and put into use in the first semester.
Equipping schools with standard facilities
Along with investment in building new facilities, many units have been repairing and renovating classrooms, functional houses, sanitation works and drainage systems to create spacious, bright - clean - beautiful scenes, better meeting requirements in the new school year.

In particular, the city People's Committee invested over 10 billion VND in renovating and upgrading all sanitation facilities in schools to ensure they meet standards. The Dinh Tri, Ngo Si Lien and Tan My Primary Schools and the Tran Phu Secondary School, which saw a rapid increase in the number of students and seriously degrading toilet areas, have received the city’s budgets to build all new ones.
Recently, the Ngo Si Lien Primary School has been handed over and put into use a three-storey toilet fully equipped with modern facilities, worth more than 3.2 billion VND (137,970 USD).
According to Ngo Minh Hung, head of the city's Education and Training Division, with the attention of the municipal authorities, this year, modern facilities and teaching equipment have been invested in an effort to satisfy the national standard school criteria. Many schools have received investments to build more classrooms and upgrade auxiliary items.
Implementing projects of the municipal People's Committee such as renovating the English teaching and learning, stepping up informatics teaching and IT application in high schools, and mobilizing social resources for preschool education development, 507 classrooms have been equipped with common teaching equipment, reaching 100 percent of the plan; and smart foreign language teaching equipment has been installed in 79 classrooms (specialized classrooms), exceeding the set plan by 170 percent.
The People's Committee of Bac Giang city has also equipped schools with 832 laptops to serve teaching activities and high-configuration notebook computers to meet the management requirements of secondary schools and some primary ones.
The municipal People's Committee plans to continue investing and increasing mobilization of social resources to upgrade and solidify school facilities in a synchronous and modern way.
