Bac Giang staples outsold

(BGO) – Bac Giang is the land of various agricultural specialties like Yen The hill chicken, Luc Ngan fruits, mushroom, safe pork and vegetables which are widely preferred by numerous customers. On the occasion of upcoming traditional Tet holiday, these local products have enjoyed high selling price and easy consumption because the local due attention is paid to improving their quality, building and promoting the trademark.

Good price thanks to the trademark

Yen The hill chicken is currently sold at the high price of nearly 70,000 VND (3.08 USD) per kilogram with an increasing tendency day by day. The family of Chu Thi Hoan in Tan Tien village, Dong Tam commune (Yen The) has 2,000 hybrid bantam chicken for Tet market. Though many Hanoi-based tradesmen ordered the poultries with the price of 2,000- 3,000 VND per kilogram higher than the same period last year, she still refuses the deal and waits till the Tet is coming closer to enjoy a much better profit.

Hoan shared: “The customers are now gastronomers and prefer a long time rasing chickens despite the more expensive price. Normally, the cock will weigh over 2 kilograms per head and the hen is a little lighter after five-month feeding period. Because we apply the safe raising procedure, our products are sold out soon”.

The hill chicken has enjoyed good price on Tet holiday thanks to the improved quality of the poultry flock, qualified safe products from advanced production procedure with origin traceability stamp upon customers’ demand.

According to Nguyen Minh Sam, Vice Chairman of Yen The district People’s Committee, the specialty has become more and more popular to several tradesmen, businesses and customers outside the province since the Yen The hill chicken promotion conference on October 2017. Seizing the opportunity, some 2.5 million chickens, almost the hybrid bantam variety, have been supplied by local farmers to the Tet market, up over 300,000 heads comparing to the figure last year.

The breeding and consuming linkage has been focused by many farmers, firms and cooperatives. With the price of 65,000 – 70,000 VND (2.86 – 3.08 USD)per kilogram, the chicken breeders will earn a profit of 30 million VND (1,320 USD) per 1,000 head.

Similarly, several businessmen came to Luc Ngan orchards to buy the huge volume of orange, pomelo and jujube to deliver to other provinces. A dozen of weighting points have been set up at Phi hamlet - the largest area to grow the jujube fruits in Phi Dien commune since the late of lunar September. Many tradesmen from Quang Ninh province and Hanoi city have come there directly to sign the contract of buying the jujube with the price around 25 – 30,000 VND (1.1 – 1.32 USD) per kilogram.

Besides, the family of Phan Van Thai harvested over one tonne of fruit and sold out at the orchard 10 days ago. Estimatedly, nine saos (old measurement unit, one sao equals to 360 square meters) of jujube cultivation bring Thai more than 100 million VND (4,400 USD).

About 2.5 million chickens, almost the hybrid bantam variety, have been supplied by local farmers to the Tet market.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Luc Ngan district, many partners in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities have come to the orchards and cooperatives to ink the purchasing deals after the second Luc Ngan fruit festival. A better price was offered to VietGAP oranges with the stamp for origin traceability from a closed connection among production groups, cooperatives and businesses.

Abundant and qualified sources of products

To prepare the agricultural staples for Tet, the local farmers have been proactive in cultivating and accumulating the products. The mushroom growers in Lang Giang district timely seized the hottest consuming season in a year. The district is home to over 270 farming models, supplying some 15,000 tonnes of mushroom to the customers, mostly portobello mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, black fungus and straw mushrooms.

Typically, the brand of Lang Giang mushroom has been well developed and protected by the local cooperatives and enterprises; thus reaching the supply contract with some supermarkets like Big C.

Apart from that, the pork is gradually on the rise up to 35,000 VND (1.54 USD) per kilogram, partly minimizing the breeders’ lost. The products with protected trademarks of several cooperatives and breeding groups are sold out. Combining to active product accumulation, Tan Yen Cooperative for Safe Pig Breeding, Slaughtering, Processing and Consuming invested some 100 million VND (4,400 USD) in pork paste steamer with a capacity of 100 kilograms per hour to serve for huge Tet’s demand.

Ngo Van Luong, Chairman of the Cooperative informed that: “The daily pork demand increases 20 – 30% against the normal time; thus we have stocked enough VietGAP products to distribute to the schools and firms as well as nearly double the quantity selling at three points in Tan Yen district and Bac Giang city on the occasion”.

The local sources of agricultural products are pretty abundant with an ease consumption. The competent agencies and authorities have actively engaged in guiding the safe cultivation technique, reinforcing the inspection and supervision of the quality to favor the product sale.

The Luc Ngan district division of Agriculture and Rural Development encouraged the growers to grow quality fruits by applying the caring technique to select the good harvesting season while Yen The functional agencies created favorable conditions to help the farmers to quickly verify the chickens’ quality, origin, quarantine for an ease consumption. The due attention has been paid to ensure the disease safety, and clean production.

“This year, the trademark agricultural staples have enjoyed good selling price in the locality while several commodities in the chain consumption are outsold, opening the sustainable and effective production and trading orientation”, observed Nguyen Van Phuong, Head of Division of Commercial Management (Department of Industry and Trade).
