Bac Giang strictly controls over circulation, spreads safe production area

Updated: 17:14, 29/09/2022
(BGO) – In addition to instruct people to follow safe production, the competent agencies of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) in Bac Giang province focuses on controlling and handling food safety violation so as to bring qualified product to the market, enhance the product quality and ensure the health of consumers.

Detecting and preventing violation

With 151 centralized rice growing areas, 77 vegetable areas, 70 fruit areas, 99 breeding areas and 34 fishery farming areas, the agriculture production in Bac Giang has strongly changed for recent years.

To bring safe and clean products to users, the Quality Managing Division of Agro-Forestry and Fishery Product (QMD) (DARD) has enhanced supervision on food safety and hygiene quality, focusing on fresh product to serve daily demand for customers.

For recent three months, all sectors and levels in the province have established 239 inspection groups/teams about food safety to control, examine and post check nearly 2,500 food facilities, helping detect shortcomings in 298 facilities and punish 25 others with total fine of over 110 million VND.

Particularly, the QMD took 62 samples of vegetable, lychee and meat for quality analysis, three of which contained chemical content within the allowance range.

The QMD Director Nguyen Van Thanh said: “Apart from seriously punishing the violation, we cooperate with departments, sectors and localities to enhance inspection and supervision of the farm produce and food such as the input material, preliminary processing, processing and consumption”.

Following safe production procedure

There are several difficulties to manage the food safety and hygiene because many cases are ready to bring containminated food to the market for individual benefit. The rate of product with origin traceability is low. Most of the agro-forestry and fishery producers are scaterred and small in residential area leading to obstacles in controlling over food safety and hygiene quality.

Additionally, 12 production models and projects in line with organic trend have been launched on total area of 74 hectares. So, the province has had over 15,500 hectares of intensive vegetable, fruit and fishery production following VietGAP standard; more than 126,500 pigs and poultries raised in line with VietGAP standard among others.

Pham Van Quang, engineer at Hai Thinh Nutrition Joint Stock Company in Hiep Hoa district shared: “Though we strictly follow animal husbandry procedures, there are risks of infection from outside area to the farm because many farming households in the area do not implement the biosafety breeding procedure”.

Since 2011, to protect the right for consumers, the competent agencies of DARD have reinforced inspection, licensed the qualified facilities and inked commitment to 160,000 scattered producing units while expanding and implementing safe production models via training course and communication to raise the awareness.

Since early this year, the DARD has launched auto fishery farming in line with VietGAP standard on total area of 19 hectares in the districts of Lang Giang, Hiep Hoa and Luc Nam.

Three models received VietGAP certificate, including pig raising model with the scale of 360 head in Vo Tranh commune (Luc Nam district), chicken raising model in one hectare in Yen The district and vegetable growing model in one hectare in Viet Yen district.

“Apart from cooperating and instructing to expand safe production models, enhancing inspection to detect any violation, the QMD realy needs the engagement from public security to investigate and prosecute the violators so as to raise the deterrence. The people should be more responsible, say no to products with unclear origin and actively report the violation,” Thanh said.
