Bac Giang strives to increase income of rural citizens by 2030, 2.5 to 3 times higher than 2020

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province has issued the plan to implement the Strategy for sustainable agricultural and rural development in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 in the province.

The plan targets to gain GDP growth rate in agriculture, forestry and fishery of 2 to 3 percent per year by 2030 while expanding and developing export market. The annual growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery values is targeted at 7 to 10 percent.

The percentage of high-tech production is targeted at 50 percent in agriculture, 55 percent in fishery and 30 percent in forestry while the rate of farm and fishery products following good agricultural practices standard (GAP) or relevant reaches 80 percent and concentrated livestock area is targeted at 80 percent.

The province will strive for improving people’s income and sustainable poverty reduction. Income of rural citizens is expected to increase by 2.5 to 3 times compared to 2020. The rate of multidimensional poor households in rural areas will decrease by 1 to 1.5 percent per year.

The proportion of agricultural labour will fall to 20 percent while the rate of trained agricultural labour will reach over 70 percent. The province will strive to reach 95 percent of new-style rural communes including 50 percent of advanced new-style rural communes, 8 district-level new-style rural areas and complete the mission of building new-style rural areas.

It will strive to develop green and environment friendly agriculture, response to climate change and reduce rural environmental pollution.

Bac Giang is targeted to become a locality of national key agriculture, leading the northern region by 2050. The province aims at modern, effective and sustainable agricultural production towards ecological, organic, alternative, low-carbonate and environmental friendly agricultural development in response to climate change.

In order to reach the set targets, Bac Giang province set out directions and tasks for sustainable agricultural and rural development, particularly developing agriculture towards concentrated commodity production attached to processing industry, tourism, consumption market, environment protection and response to climate change and integrated to restructuring agricultural sector and building new-style rural areas.

Besides, the province will boost application of high-tech, organic and smart agriculture in producing the key farm produce. It will also promote advantages of each sub-region to continue developing concentrated intensive cultivation areas.

The province will pay attention to building and developing trademark of agricultural and forestry products with competitive advantages, strive to bring some key products of the province into the Programme on building Vietnamese agricultural product trademark attached to the domestic value chain and for export. It will boost intensive and practical implementation of OCOP (one commune one product) programme in line with tourism development.
