Under Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan VIII (Power Development Plan for 2021–2030 with a vision to 2050), Bac Ninh is allocated 150 MW of centralized solar power and more than 3.3 GW of rooftop solar capacity.
As of December 2025, the province had developed around 1,200 rooftop solar systems with a total installed capacity of nearly 200 MW, including systems used for self-production and self-consumption.
For 2026 alone, Bac Ninh has been allocated 515 MW of rooftop solar installation capacity in the first phase of the national plan.
The provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that although the prices of materials, equipment and installation costs have shown an upward trend, proactive participation from enterprises and support from the province, including appropriate space planning and land allocation, are helping accelerate deployment.
Authorities have also stepped up communication and encouragement for rooftop solar installation at industrial parks, manufacturing facilities, government offices and households. Bac Ninh aims to complete its rooftop solar capacity target for 2026 in line with the approved plan.
