Samsung launches rooftop solar project in Bac Ninh, producing 2.59 million kWh annually
BAC NINH – Samsung Vietnam has officially inaugurated a rooftop solar power project at its Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) factory in the Yen Phong Industrial Park, marking a major step toward its Net Zero goals and Vietnam’s sustainable development agenda.
The project was developed in partnership with CME Solar Investment and features a total installed capacity of 2.38 megawatt-peak (MWp). It is expected to generate approximately 2.59 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually.

The rooftop solar system is part of Samsung’s broader commitment to supporting the Vietnamese government’s ambition to achieve net-zero emissions and represents a key component of the company’s global Net Zero strategy.
The initiative also affirms Samsung’s leadership role in the energy transition and its dedication to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
After just three months of construction, the project has been completed and is now fully operational. Kim Iee Soo, General Director of SEV, emphasized that the significance of the solar initiative extends beyond economic benefits.

"This project reflects Samsung's strong commitment to the environment and society in Vietnam. It is a key milestone in our journey toward a sustainable future for the next generations," Kim said at the inauguration ceremony.
Chung Dieu Tuan, CEO of CME Solar, also highlighted the project’s broader impact. “The success of this project goes beyond energy efficiency. It reflects a shared vision between SEV and CME Solar in sustainable development, innovation, and responsible action toward a low-emission, green economy,” he said.
The SEV rooftop solar system is being hailed as a model of cooperation between leading companies in the technology and clean energy sectors. According to CME Solar, the company managed the full implementation process — from engineering design and legal support to construction, testing, and commissioning — while strictly adhering to SEV’s high standards for safety and quality.
This marks another milestone for Samsung’s green energy roadmap in Vietnam, where the company has continued to invest heavily in technological innovation and sustainability. The Bac Ninh facility, a major hub for Samsung’s global electronics production, is among the company’s largest overseas manufacturing sites.
The solar system is expected to significantly reduce SEV’s dependence on traditional power sources, contributing to lower carbon emissions and operational costs. The output — 2.59 million kWh annually — is enough to power hundreds of households and will contribute directly to Vietnam’s renewable energy targets.

CME Solar, known for its extensive portfolio of commercial and industrial solar projects across Vietnam, said the collaboration with Samsung is one of the largest and most technically demanding rooftop installations it has undertaken.
The project also aligns with Vietnam’s increasing focus on clean energy transition. The government has set an ambitious goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, encouraging foreign investors and large corporations to adopt sustainable energy solutions.
Samsung's initiative is likely to pave the way for similar large-scale green investments in the northern industrial hub and reinforce Bac Ninh’s role as a leader in industrial transformation and renewable energy integration.
