BAC NINH - The northern province of Bac Ninh on December 5 opened 2025 Fruit Festival at Chu ward’s Central Square, an event co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the provincial government to promote local agricultural products and agri-tourism.

Senior provincial leaders, including Nguyen Hong Thai, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and Pham Hoang Son, Chairman of the People’s Committee, attended the opening ceremony.

Provincial leaders and representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade carry out the opening ritual of the Bac Ninh 2025 Fruit Festival.

Speaking at the event, Pham Van Thinh, Standing Member of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee, said 2025 marks a significant milestone as the provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang merge to form a new Bac Ninh with strong traditions and growing development ambitions.

Provincial leaders tour the fruit and OCOP product exhibition area at the Bac Ninh 2025 Fruit Festival.

He said the first Party Congress of the new Bac Ninh for the 2025-2030 term had set out a strategy to develop ecological, high-tech and circular agriculture, combined with deep processing and full traceability, to build a multi-value agricultural sector.

Livestream sales activities take place at the festival.

The province also aims to upgrade its new rural development programme by shifting toward higher and model standards to improve living conditions for residents.

He said the 2025 Fruit Festival reflects the province’s long-term vision of making agriculture a “green pillar” in the development of the new Bac Ninh.

Visitors flock to the display booths at the festival.

The province currently has nearly 54,000 hectares of fruit trees, including over 8,600 hectares of citrus. Annual output exceeds 80,000 tonnes, with an estimated value of 1.8 trillion VND (78.7 million USD).

More than 1,700 hectares of orange and 3,700 hectares of grapefruit meet VietGAP standards, while over 780 OCOP-certified products are available on the market, demonstrating the efforts of local authorities, businesses and farmers to enhance the value of provincial agricultural goods.

Visitors explore the exhibition area showcasing machinery for agricultural production.

A key feature of this year’s festival is a new approach that integrates culture, tourism and technology to expand markets, strengthen branding and support farmers, cooperatives and enterprises in their integration efforts.

Organisers say the festival aims to promote innovation and build confidence in a modern, diversified and sustainable agricultural sector.

After the opening remarks, provincial leaders and guests carried out the ceremonial launch of the event.

Traditional cakes made by ethnic communities in Tan Son commune draw strong interest from visitors.

The programme included an auction of four premium orange and grapefruit trees selected from local orchards.

The festival features eight exhibition zones showcasing fruit and agricultural products from Bac Ninh’s communes and wards; produce from selected provinces and cities; machinery, tools and technologies for production, preservation and processing; biotechnology used in agriculture and waste treatment; and e-commerce demonstrations by platforms such as Sendo, Tiktok and Shopee, including livestream sales with KOLs, KOCs and agricultural cooperatives.

The 2025 Bac Ninh Fruit Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors from Viet Nam and abroad to experience the province’s fruit-growing areas.

Other spaces highlight local cuisine, traditional cultural performances from Bac Ninh, and an exhibition on the history and achievements of the former Ha Bac, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, celebrating the success of the provincial Party Congress and looking ahead to the 14th National Party Congress.
