Exports of most types of vegetables and fruits to the EU recorded strong two- to three-digit growth compared with the same period in 2024, except for jackfruit and lychee, which declined.
Passion fruit was the largest fruit export to the EU in the first half of 2025, earning 58.59 million USD, up 112.9% compared with the same period in 2024, and accounting for 25.1% of total fruit and vegetable export value to this market.
The export value of several other fruit and vegetable items to the EU also grew strongly in the first six months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024, including: mangoes at 39.9 million USD, up 28.6%; pistachios at 34.2 million USD, up 102.1%; pineapples at 19.5 million USD, up 207.9%; coconuts at 18.3 million USD, up 49.1%; lemons at 9.8 million USD, up 37.7%; dragon fruit at 9.36 million USD, up 10.5%; almonds at 6.87 million USD, up 140.7%; and corn at 4.1 million USD, up 36.6%.
One of the key factors driving Viet Nam’s fruit and vegetable exports to the EU in the first half of 2025 was tariff advantages from the EU–Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
In addition, consumer demand in the EU is recovering strongly, and Vietnamese fruits and vegetables are increasingly favoured by EU consumers thanks to improved quality.
Moreover, fruit production in several EU member states has fallen due to adverse weather, making the region more dependent on imports, including from Viet Nam.
