At a conference reviewing the 2026 lychee season and outlining plans for 2027, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh said the province harvested 131,560 tonnes of lychees this year, including 50,725 tonnes of early-season fruit and 80,835 tonnes from the main crop.

Average farm-gate prices reached about 55,200 VND (about 2.1 USD) per kg, the highest ever recorded, while VietGAP- and GlobalGAP-certified lychees consistently fetched premium prices.

Domestic consumption remained the main sales channel, accounting for 91,661 tonnes, or nearly 72.7% of total output sold. Exports reached 35,899 tonnes, equivalent to 27.3% of total sales.

China remained the largest overseas market, importing around 35,120 tonnes, or 97.8% of export volume, while smaller shipments were sent to the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the European Union, Thailand and several Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries.

Revenue from lychees and related services was estimated at more than 9 trillion VND (about 343 million USD), up 44.2% from 2025. Lychee sales generated over 7.26 trillion VND, an increase of 95.2%, while supporting services contributed more than 1.74 trillion VND.

Delegates at the conference discussed measures to support growers, expand VietGAP- and GlobalGAP-certified cultivation areas, improve planning for lychee-growing regions and strengthen processing capacity to boost exports to the United States and the European Union.

Participants also highlighted the use of TikTok, e-commerce platforms and online sales channels to promote lychee consumption.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh praised local authorities, businesses and farmers for their coordinated efforts during the 2026 season but said significant opportunities remained untapped.

He noted that agri-tourism linked to the lychee harvest has considerable potential and called for more professional investment and organisation.

Although exports and prices were strong this year, international markets still offer substantial room for growth, he said, urging agencies to continue market research, diversify export destinations and improve compliance with increasingly stringent international standards.

The provincial leader also called for greater investment in the fruit-processing industry to raise the value of lychees and proposed developing a modern irradiation facility to serve not only lychees but also other fruits produced across the region.

He urged the agriculture sector to compile and replicate best farming practices from high-yield orchards and to develop superior lychee varieties and off-season production to better adapt to climate change and reduce weather-related risks.

The conference also recognised 15 outstanding lychee orchards in a provincial competition and presented certificates of merit to seven organisations and 29 individuals for their contributions to promoting and marketing Bac Ninh lychees during the 2026 season.
