Bac Ninh Party Chief pledges support for efficient operation of Tan Cang Que Vo inland port

Updated: 11:02, 15/12/2025

BAC NINH - Nguyen Hong Thai, a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, has pledged full support and the most favourable conditions for the effective operation of the Tan Cang Que Vo inland container depot (ICD).

He made the remarks during a working visit to the port, which is operated by Saigon Newport Corporation under Army Corps 20 of the Ministry of National Defence.

Bac Ninh Party Chief Nguyen Hong Thai chairs the meeting.

As part of a strategy launched in 2019 to expand investment and improve nationwide connectivity, Saigon Newport Corporation partnered with local enterprises in Bac Ninh to invest in and expand the Tan Cang Que Vo ICD.

The project is located at Kieu Luong hamlet, formerly Duc Long commune, Que Vo town, now Phu Lang commune, and is developed on the basis of the Duc Long inland waterway container port.

The project aims to serve as a destination port for import and export cargo from Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho and Hanoi, while acting as a transshipment hub to seaports in Hai Phong.

Representatives of Army Corps 20 brief the delegates on an overview of the project using a site map.

It is also intended to become a logistics centre for Bac Ninh province, providing services including transportation, cargo handling, packaging, warehousing, container repair and customs clearance.

According to project developers, about two-thirds of construction has been completed. Procedures for the announcement of the inland waterway port, ICD status and customs clearance location have been finalised, and the port has been operational since March 2023.

At the meeting, leaders of Saigon Newport Corporation outlined difficulties affecting the project and called on authorities to continue facilitating the completion of the remaining phase in line with market demand, particularly the construction of warehouse systems subject to dike-related regulations. They also sought support for the acceptance and implementation of the ICD’s expansion in accordance with approved planning.

After an on-site inspection and briefings from the operator as well as comments from provincial departments and local authorities, Thai said Bac Ninh has significant advantages in river networks, creating favourable conditions for inland waterway transport and green logistics. He stressed the need to further enhance the effectiveness of the Tan Cang Que Vo ICD.

Major General Ngo Minh Thuan speaks at the working session.

Regarding the company’s proposals, the provincial leader said the province’s position is to provide maximum support and create the best possible conditions for production and business activities.

He instructed the provincial People’s Committee to review the requests and direct relevant departments to coordinate concrete measures to resolve outstanding issues.

For matters under central government authority or involving Hai Phong city, he said Bac Ninh would propose and coordinate with relevant agencies to address them in the coming period.
