Bac Ninh seeks to develop tourism products, expand markets
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh Municipal Party Committee (MPC) Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai has recently chaired a meeting on tourism development, calling for measures to tap the city's potential and expand its tourism market.
Bac Ninh has favourable conditions for tourism development, being part of the socio-economic development space of the Hanoi capital region and the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh growth triangle.

Its transport network is increasingly developed, providing convenient connections with Hanoi, Noi Bai International Airport and Gia Binh International Airport, which is expected to begin operations in 2027.
The city is home to eight UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage sites, 3,154 classified or inventoried historical and cultural sites, 25 national treasures or groups of national treasures, 28 national intangible cultural heritage items, 246 state-recognised artisans and 1,319 traditional festivals.
These resources provide a foundation for developing cultural, heritage, spiritual, craft village, community and experiential tourism.
Bac Ninh has gradually developed various tourism products, including Quan Ho folk singing and cultural tours, heritage and spiritual tourism, craft village and handicraft experiences, eco-tourism, community and agricultural tourism, rail tours on the Hanoi-Bac Ninh route, as well as tourism linked to conferences, exhibitions, cultural and sporting events. Night-time economic activities have also begun to emerge.
In 2025, Bac Ninh welcomed 6.3 million visitors, including more than 350,000 international tourists, generating about 5.5 trillion VND (211.6 million USD) in tourism revenue.
In the first nine months of this year, the city received about 5.8 million visitors, up 7% from a year earlier, while tourism revenue was estimated at more than 5.2 trillion VND, equivalent to 80% of the annual target and up 9% year on year.
In his concluding remarks on October 1, the MPC Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai asked the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector and relevant agencies to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Bac Ninh's tourism potential, advantages and shortcomings, and develop systematic, long-term solutions.
He called for a comprehensive review of existing tourism products to identify those suitable for upgrading and those requiring adjustments.
The city should also consider hiring experienced consultants to develop a focused, long-term tourism strategy suited to its new development space.
He also urged authorities to renew tourism communications and promotion, using modern approaches tailored to different markets and making greater use of digital platforms.

The city should consider producing films and artistic works highlighting Bac Ninh's history, culture and people.
The municipal leader called for a review and selection of key tourism projects capable of creating distinctive attractions, while attracting capable investors.
Priority should be given to eco-tourism, resorts, entertainment, services and night-time economy projects to create new spaces where visitors can stay longer, spend more and enjoy more experiences.
Alongside developing local resources, Bac Ninh should step up tourism links and promotion in domestic and international markets, while strengthening cooperation among local tourism businesses, organisations and partners at home and abroad to expand markets and bring Bac Ninh's tourism products to international visitors.
