Bac Ninh strengthens ties with Brazil-Vietnam chamber to boost trade and investment

Updated: 10:43, 10/09/2025

BAC NINH – Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Pham Van Thinh on September 9 received leaders of the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LATAM) to discuss trade promotion and investment opportunities between the northern province and Brazilian businesses.

The delegation was led by LATAM President Victor Key and Vice President Natã Oliveir, who also heads the chamber’s representative office in Vietnam. Representatives from several provincial departments attended the talks.

Victor Key said relations between Vietnam and Brazil had grown steadily in recent years, creating more opportunities for businesses in both countries.

LATAM, he added, planned to organize trade missions to bring Vietnamese companies to Brazil and Brazilian firms to Vietnam, with Bac Ninh as a priority destination for exploring market demand and building partnerships.

Brazil’s strength in agricultural exports could complement Bac Ninh’s growing interest in animal feed production, Key noted, suggesting investment in the sector. LATAM stood ready to support Vietnamese companies with market information to facilitate effective cooperation.

The chamber is carrying out various trade promotion activities and finalizing registration to operate in Vietnam with plans to open an office in Bac Giang ward, Bac Ninh city.

The PPC Vice Chairman Thinh welcomed LATAM’s interest in Bac Ninh, pointing out that about 10 major enterprises in the province are engaged in animal feed production, with high demand for imported raw materials such as soybeans and corn.

He also highlighted Bac Ninh’s industries in paper, premium packaging and electronics – including watches, tablets and smartphones – serving both domestic and global markets.

“Vietnam is located in Asia’s dynamic center, while Brazil is a leading economy in South America. Once goods enter either market, they gain access to the whole region. This is a favorable foundation for stronger cooperation between Bac Ninh and Brazil,” Thinh said.

He urged LATAM to coordinate closely with provincial departments and business associations to identify investment areas and build practical cooperation programmes.

Vietnam and Brazil upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership, opening opportunities across multiple sectors. Bac Ninh provincial leader hoped LATAM will introduce Brazilian investors to the province, especially in high technology, innovation, and research and development.

The province pledged to facilitate Vietnamese firms’ participation in global value chains, while promoting green and digital economies in line with sustainable development goals.

So far, Bac Ninh has attracted nine non-governmental aid projects from Brazil worth nearly $89,000, mainly in healthcare and education, contributing to improvements in local living standards.

To mark the occasion, the PPC Vice Chairman Thinh presented the LATAM delegation with traditional Dong Ho folk paintings and dried Luc Ngan lychee, signature products of the province.
